We identify
entrepreneurs who have a vision to carry out a Micro finance
programme on a sustainable basis, but may not have the
required skills and exposure. We help them in several aspects
so that they are able to create and lead a professional MFI.
1. Shaping the vision: We explain to these
entrepreneurs the requirements and implications of starting a
microfinance programme. The objective of this is to help
them foresee (both positive and negative) in advance of what
could be in store for them if they are willing to start an MFI.
2. Getting required exposure: We help these
organizations/entrepreneurs in getting required exposures –
to the extent possible we expose them to MFIs already operating
in similar socio-economic environment.
3. Preparing a business plan: Once these
entrepreneurs become confident of their capacity to lead a
professional MFI we help them to prepare a comprehensive
business plan. The business plan consists of strategic,
operational and financial plan, which guides them
step-by-step in different aspects and at different stages of
the lifecycle of the MFIs. This exercise is carried out in a
manner that the entrepreneurs have full ownership over the
business plan.
4. Setting up governance and management structure:
We help start-ups in setting up required governance and
management structures. Depending on the requirements of each
MFI, the intensity of this support varies – some MFIs
require more handholding than others. The ultimate objective,
however, is to make these MFIs self-sustainable as far as
management capacity is required.
5.
Getting finances:
We liaison on behalf of such MFIs to mobilize grant,
equity and loan funds. We will also help these MFIs in shaping
an appropriate capital structure. |
